PUMP ORGANS and SQUARE GRANDS
Square grands are somewhat difficult to tune and repair and often requires hand making parts. Tuning is usually possible to a degree, but most square grands will not tolerate modern A-440 concert pitch. They were originally designed for A-420 to A-435 pitch, and the added tensions may damage strings or the integrity of the piano. In most cases, the tuning will not be as accurate or last as long as on a modern piano. We can however tune most square grands adequately enough for use, though don't expect that the results will be perfect. We charge an extra $15 for tuning square grands. They may require a second or third tuning to bring them up to any kind of reasonable sound, and may never be brought up to full pitch. We will evaluate your piano for you and estimate the cost.

We do repair and rebuild pump organs but we do not attempt to tune the reeds, as most of the reeds found in those instruments are old and fragile and can easily break. Repairing the bellows is possible, but some parts must be hand made to repair wooden actions. We will do our very best to accomodate your needs, but some things may outweigh the cost involved. Call for an estimate and evaluation of your instrument.
